there's something about this boy...

Nothing like an ice cream from IKEA...my goodness, this boy is beautiful!!! How could a person not love a face like this. Ephraim so has me wrapped around his little finger.

bring it on...

Well, it seems to me that summer is finally here. It has been hot here in Edmonton and we have enjoyed many afternoons in the beautiful backyard of ours. I have also been busy in the front garden, trying to get all the plants and bushes moved out of the way, so Mike can start tearing down and rebuilding the front deck. That was a BIG job - at least two full days of digging shovels full of dirt into my nifty soil sifter (that I built myself last year) - but my plants are loving me for it. I still have some more to do, but at least I have a nice tan to show for it!! I am so happy for the warm weather - I'm not in my craft room as often as I would like, but that is part of the season I guess. I will have to do some midnight moonlighting up here for the summer...bring it on - the hotter, the better! Oh...and we are so excited for Eden - she learned how to ride a two wheeler yesterday!!!

I am hoping that today is the day the weather changes and becomes a bit more spring-like, rather than the fall-like weather we have been having for the last few days...I have seedlings that need to get in the ground!! In the meantime I will continue to pump out layouts galore. I am loving this class and I think I might do some more online courses - it works well for me to have the flexibility of working on my own, and surprise, surprise - this is one subject where I can stay focused!! Here are a few more layouts:

I also recieved my official Mother's Day gift today - a beautiful necklace from this artist. Mike bought it from etsy.com (after a bit of direction from myself) and I love it!! It is silver, with my kids' names stamped on the pendant...

And one more thing...for all you scrapbookers (or any artist for that matter), here is a great blog posting about some creative tips.

Have a great Thursday everyone! And here's to {the dream of} spring...

Spring = Gardening

Ok...so I know that not everyone loves to garden. I find it hard to believe that there are people out there who don't enjoy spending the afternoon getting their hands really dirty, but I think it is partly genetic for me (my grandfather owned his own nursery, so I come by it honestly), and partly very therapeutic and creative. In any case, I came across this blog, and wanted to share it because this is a great idea for people who (a) don't have alot of space and (b) have kids, but don't really want them in their own garden. I sadly fall into the second category, but WOW!! I love this idea. Take a look and have fun in the pot (...garden pot that is...)!!

Brrrrr

It is cold (below freezing...) and windy (very, very gusty) and dare I say snowy. What in the world is going on? Ironically enough, the pictures I scrapbooked today were the pictures from our "spring" walk - the day where the air felt very different, and we knew it was spring. Tonight, I was covering up my plants and it didn't feel like spring at all. Ah well, it makes the warmer weather all that more glorious, right?

Take it as a gift...it's a great night for a movie, some popcorn and some cuddling...

Happy Mom's Day

Here's to all the mothers out there who give and give and give and then give some more...and end up with a little kiss on the lips that makes everything worth it. I wanted to honour my mom somehow this year, and came across ali's post here and a page that she did, and I knew that is what I wanted to do. So, I made one for my mom (who has yet to recieve it) and one for myself.

We had a great day just hanging out today...didn't do much of anything...just enjoyed each other and it actually got warm enough in the back yard to get out the sprinkler. Who would have thought Mother's Day would ever get warm enough for this??

Have a great week! I have a busy week ahead of catching up on Colour Challenges and Farmer's Market prep...

Totally into it...

A few weeks ago I signed up for an online colour course (http://gotcrafts.typepad.com/classes/eye-for-design-color-creative.html) in relation to scrapbooking. I thought maybe it would give some inspiration for my scrapbooks and what I love about it - namely the creative process. So far, so good. Here are a few pages I have done for the "colour challenges"...

I also came across this great dialogue by ali edwards (someone I really admire) about fear, the creative process, our desire to be loved and accepted and how distorted things sometimes become for us. (that damn guilt monster keeps rearing it's ugly head!!). Anyways...it is a good, quick read.

Have a great rest of the week!
